Physicians Training in Diving Medicine

Every year we teach as subject matter experts on rebreathers for UHMS Physicians Training in Diving Medicine. The course is in San Diego. Next one is October 12–22, 2026.

Silent O Solutions is the premier diving provider in Hawaii, and arguably the U.S. They have decades of experience in recreational teaching and guiding, commercial and scientific diving, with encyclopedic knowledge of closed circuit rebreathers, making them the best resource for any diving operation. Importantly, they are the designated Subject Matter Experts in rebreather training for the Physicians Training in Diving Medicine (PTDM) course. This is taught by the Underwater and Hyperbaric Medicine Society, responsible for training Board Certified Diving Medical Officers. This is the only civilian program designed for the American Board of Medical Specialities requirements.

In 2012 the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department purchased SF2 ECCR rebreathers for our Emergency Services Detail underwater search and recovery unit. We turned to Todd and Tiffany Winn of Silent O Solutions to transition divers onto the units. What began as a single course became yearly deep rebreather training on Maui.
For 14 years Silent O Solutions has provided outstanding technical support to LASD divers tasked with recovering bodies and evidence in deep water—coordinating boats, blending Trimix, filling oxygen, diluent, bailout and decompression cylinders, and supplying Sofnolime for our annual SF2 training.
